WordPress Development and WordPress Websites

WordPress is the platform behind most of the sites Penkov Studio builds. The work covers theme setup, plugin selection, a child theme and code-level customisation, so the site does exactly what you need while staying easy to edit.

What you get

  • Theme and templates in Elementor, WPBakery or Divi

Theme setup, global styles and templates for the header, footer and each page type, so the design stays consistent.

  • Child theme and customisation

PHP, CSS and JavaScript changes kept in a child theme, so they survive updates to the parent theme.

  • Plugin selection

Only the plugins you actually need, without overlapping features that slow the site down and make updates riskier.

  • Content types and fields

Custom post types and extra fields for catalogues, team members, locations or services that are simple to fill in.

  • Roles and access

User accounts with only the permissions they need, so content can be edited safely.

02

Process

  1. Requirements

We pin down what the site needs to do and who will edit it, so the right approach is chosen from the start.

  2. Foundation

Installation, theme, child theme, core plugins, security settings and the permalink structure.

  3. Templates and features

Building the templates in Elementor, WPBakery or Divi and adding the features that do not come out of the box.

  4. Testing and training

Checks across devices, speed and forms, followed by a short session on how to edit your content.

A good fit for

  • Companies that want to manage their own content
  • Existing WordPress sites that need improvements
  • Sites with catalogues, locations or team pages that change often
  • Sites with a blog and a steady flow of new content
  • Projects that may grow into an online store later
  • Edit without a developer

You or your team can add text, images and new pages visually.

  • Safe updates

Custom code is kept apart from the theme and plugins, so updates do not break the site.

  • Room to grow

A WordPress site can later gain a blog, extra languages or a WooCommerce store.

WordPress development, not just installing a theme

Installing WordPress and an off-the-shelf theme takes minutes. The difference between that and a properly built WordPress site shows up later: at the first update, the first new page and the first speed test. WordPress development at Penkov Studio is aimed squarely at those moments.

Elementor, WPBakery and Divi

We build sites with the three most widely used WordPress visual builders: Elementor, WPBakery Page Builder and Divi. If your site is already built with one of them, we can maintain it, extend it or rebuild it without losing content.

A visual builder, with some discipline

Elementor gives you visual editing, but without rules every page ends up with different fonts, spacing and buttons. So global colours and typography are set up first, and repeating sections are built as templates. New pages then look like part of the site, even when you create them yourself.

A child theme and custom code

When something cannot be done through settings, the code goes into a child theme or a small custom plugin, which keeps your changes safe when the theme updates. If the feature is more involved, such as a connection to an external system, it is handled as an API integration or custom development.

Fewer plugins, fewer problems

Every plugin adds code, database queries and a potential vulnerability. Before adding a new one, we check whether the same result can be achieved with tools already on the site or a few lines of code. That helps both site speed and day-to-day maintenance.

New site or improving an existing one

This service covers both brand-new WordPress sites and existing ones that need new features, a plugin clean-up or a restructure. If you are after a complete new website with packages and timelines, see website development. Examples of WordPress projects include the online stores autoport.bg and topcase.bg. FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why WordPress rather than another platform?

WordPress makes content easy to edit, has a huge range of extensions and can grow over time, for example with a blog or an online store. If your project calls for something different, we discuss it at the start.

Can you work on an existing WordPress site?

Yes. It usually starts with a review of the theme, plugins and custom code, after which you get a list of what can be improved.

What is a child theme and why do I need one?

A child theme keeps your customisations separate from the main theme, so they are not lost when the theme is updated.

Do you use premium themes and plugins?

When it makes sense, yes. It depends on the project, and we discuss whether a paid tool is really needed before committing to one.

Can a WordPress site be multilingual?

Yes. Each language version is set up with correct hreflang settings and translated content.
